Meet Judy Simmons
Judy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Puget Sound and has dedicated much of her career to pediatric care. During her tenure at Seattle Children's Hospital, she initiated a program to address the needs of neonates in the Infant Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, later advancing to lead the Occupational Therapy Department. Over the past 30 years, she has specialized in private practice, concentrating on children with feeding disorders. Currently, Judy focuses on providing specialized care for infants from birth to six months, drawing on her extensive experience and unwavering commitment to ensuring the well-being of her young patients and their families.
Philosophy
Judy is deeply committed to addressing the holistic needs of both the child and the family when confronted with infant feeding challenges. She emphasizes the importance of collaboration with a multidisciplinary team including pediatricians, lactation consultants, nutritionists, dentists, craniosacral therapists, chiropractors, and other professionals. This collaborative approach ensures the delivery of appropriate treatment and maintains continuity of care. Judy firmly believes in prioritizing immediate appointments for infants and their families to alleviate any undue distress due to delayed scheduling. Recognizing the complexity of issues faced by newborns, Judy does not maintain a waiting list and instead refers families to trusted feeding specialists if she is unavailable. Additionally, Judy endeavors to provide full support to families and serves as an advocate on their behalf when necessary.
